Stölzle : 125 Years ofGlass Making Tradition
The brand Stölzle stands for innovation and quality: lead-free, crystalline glass, brilliance, high dishwasher and breakage resistance as well as an ideal price/quality ratio.
The first documented mention was dated in 1433, in which a glasswork produced greenish and brownish 'woodglass' - benefited by both quantity and quality of glass, sand, wood, lime stone and clay.
The Lausitz became the largest glass producing region of Europe and the 'Glashüttenwerke Weißwasser AG' the largest producer of stem glasses in Germany.Through to the 1930s the Bauhaus glass designer Wilhelm Wagenfeld created new directions for the glass industry with his radical new shapes. These shapes are part of today’s modern classical designs. In the year 1960 started the first production of machine-made tumblers. 1969 followed the production of stemware by machines.Until 1991 the 'Lausitzer Glaswerke' were the largest producer of glass in former GDR with around 4000 em-ployees. After German reunification the 'Lausitzer Glaswerke' were privatized. In the year 1996 the 'Stölzle-Oberglas AG' took over the glassworks. Today Stölzle Lausitz and Stölzle-Oberglas are owned by the group of the CAG Holding GmbH.
Quality Crystal Glasses
The art of glass manufacture and its refinement has been cultivated and developed in the Lausitz area for over 500 years.
More and more glassworks were founded in the Lausitz forests, primarily due to the high-quality raw materials in the Lausitz' sandy soil. Therefore the volume of production of molten glass vastly increased. The consequent further development of products and techniques in the period 1900 to 1930 resulted in a unique concentration of hollowware production in the Weisswasser area.
Coloured drinking glasses as accentual accessories on the table continue to grow in popularity, specifically in haute cuisine and consequently on the domestic table as well. Stölzle Lausitz support this development with new, stylish colours on selected tumblers and champagne glasses.
The Magic of Colours
A warm grey, an olive green or a luscious brown are the colours of the new spectrum that Stölzle Lausitz offers from spring 2015. The colours, a tender violet and a shimmering amber also from that spectrum, are coordinated to the current trends in high-level gastronomy. The color palette is selected in a way so that the glasses gain a discreet but desired attention both individually and collectively.A special range of translucent shades of colors are created with the Vulcano tumblers, which are released in 2015. These tumblers with the aroma cone in the centre of the base give a delicate colouring in the cone – perfect for those who want a glass with a refined colour tone.Other variations of coloured glasses complete the new designs: tumblers with colored stripes bring the association to the classic country house glasses. Interesting decoration with pearls in discreet colors accentuate the sparkling wine bubbles in champagne glasses. The consequent effects will cause more than a light bulb moment.

A warm grey, an olive green or a luscious brown are the colors of the spectrum of the tumblers TWISTER und ELEMENTS. The colors, a tender violet and a shimmering amber also belong to that spectrum, are concerted to current trends in high-level gastronomy. The color palette is selectedin a way that the glasses gain a discreet but desired attention individually as well as in combination. With its structured surface, the glass tumblers in the Twister series from Stölzle Lausitz remind you of the colourful country-style glasses to be found in more southerly regions. You immediately get that feeling of buoyant ease. The harmonious form of the glass tumbler underlines this once again.
With its distinctive stem and the long top, the new craft beer glass from Stölzle Lausitz is clearly reminiscent of a noble goblet. The goblet drawn deep into the stem and the resulting harmonious transition developing from it to the stem in the roundness of the goblet has all the makings of a sophisticated wine glass. There are two details which make the difference: at the very top this glass ceases to narrows and offers a vertical finish to the bowl, on the other hand, overall this glass compared with the counterparts in the wine glass segment offers an increased wall thickness and a solid stem. That’s why it’s a beer glass! The new pils glass picks up the basic formal structure of the craft beer glass and modifies it specifically for this type of beer through its more delicate stem and a distinctive and slightly curved top. This provides the necessary room for the characteristic pils head. The new pils glass from Stölzle Lausitz is in all respects a genuine beer glass: here again, the wall thickness and the solidity of the stem have been increased. Together with the strong bottom, this glass allows firmly established beer rituals.Stölzle Lausitz has deliberately kept the two new beer glasses independent in the terms of their styling. As a result, they can be combined with various, stylistically different glasses - from the organic right through to cubic designs. Both glasses are produced using the sophisticated drawing process. That means that the stem is drawn out of the goblet in the production process. Stölzle Lausitz is one of the few glass manufacturers worldwide that can realize this process with a continuously optimal quality level. The result is glasses with a particularly harmonious shape and great durability. Not least for those reasons, the glasses from the production of Stölzle Lausitz in Weißwasser, Saxony enjoy a high level of popularity in the catering trade, which also makes them perfectly suitable for private use. They are universally suitable: for quenching a thirst as well as for pure enjoyment.
Matt white and glossy black, glossy white and matt black - the new glasses in the Olympic series from Stölzle Lausitz create inspiring accents in bars and restaurants, at parties and other festive occasions. Because as a counterpoint to the shiny or matt surfaces, Stölzle Lausitz brings metallic tones and intense colour into play.Gold, silver and bronze, together that all adds up to Olympic. The new glasses from the German glass manufacturer in Weisswasser clearly belong on the podium, because they pick up the latest interior and lifestyle trends and combine them with each other - confidently and sure of success. In addition to the universal glass tumblers, as part of the new series, Stölzle Lausitz also offers cocktail glasses and champagne glasses. Collectively, with their different surfaces and best free programmes, they all compete for the favour of the judges: glass tumblers with a matt white surface have the same chances as the glass tumblers with a glossy white surface. The same is true for the matt and glossy black surfaces. From within, the colours of the medals always shine out.The glass series from Stölzle Lausitz, however, has a far greater wealth of variations to offer. For example, the black and white outer surfaces are combined with red as an interior colour or an externally red glass is black or white on the inside. The cocktail glasses and champagne glasses have the same tactical game plan, however, they also have a surprise in store with a complete version in the metallic tones. The monochrome look is extended in monochrome black or white glasses – once again matt or gloss. In this formation, along with the cocktail glasses and champagne saucers, there are champagne flutes, wine and highball glasses.
They are high-quality long drink and cocktail glasses or tumblers, but the glasses in the Moon series are a mystery in themselves. Because the new fluorescent glasses, which the German glassmaker Stölzle Lausitz is now presenting, have the potential in every bar, at every party or every barbecue evening, to ensure that special wow effect: lights out, glass on!Beneath the bases of the cocktail glass, the highball glass and the tumbler, a fluorescent layer ensures that the glasses glow in the dark. What many people are probably already familiar with on the hands of the traditional wristwatch, provides special effects in these glasses. Then, not only the base of the glass appears as a light green luminous object, the liquid in the glass is also discreetly illuminated. The luminous effect of the fluorescent layer, following a day in daylight, is maintained for about two hours. That provides enough time to empty the shining glass right down to its gleaming base more than once.Currently, with the Moon series Stölzle Lausitz is offering three different glass types that are particularly suitable for use in bars and scene restaurants, but are also suitable for creating an atmospheric effect at home. Cocktail and long drink glass as well as the tumbler cover a broad spectrum of drinks and can thus have an illuminating effect on many occasions. The glasses can be simply washed in the dishwasher. Whether they also help spread their characteristic glow there, remains a secret of the dishwasher.
